About Me

My name is Joe Uhl. I graduated from Georgia Tech in 2004 and left the graduate program after 1 year to work more. I am currently the co-founder and VP of Technical Operations at WeTheCitizens. Though I spend most of my time building software I also get to purchase and maintain a lot of hardware and tools and love the startup atmosphere in general.

When not “working” I enjoy participating in the Atlanta startup community and hacking on various side projects. I live near Atlanta and don’t expect to ever move.

My Machine

I’ve recently become a huge fan of OSX and believe it is the best option currently available for a workstation. I am using a maxed out 17″ Macbook Pro of the Santa Rosa variety. Though not one to evangelize the far from perfect OSX I do love the niceties of the interface, the consistency and variety of keyboard shortcuts, and the power of the command line. In the context of this specific laptop I very much appreciate the hardware specifics, the huge resolution (1920×1200), and the quality of the construction.

This Blog

I have no overall purpose for this blog. It simply contains casual observations, opinions, tips, and rants that I find interesting. The entries are typically generated from experiences working at and around startups in Atlanta. It started out hosted on wordpress.com but I got tired of the limitations and migrated it to a wordpress.org blog hosted on NearlyFreeSpeech.net and like that combination pretty well.
